Summary
This urine collection device is an example of the type of hygiene equipment assigned to astronauts for use the Apollo program. This object was not assigned to a flight or astronaut and may have been used in training.
Liquid waste was collected in the yellow rubberized bladder, which was worn under the astronaut's clothing. As the device was designed only for men, roll-on cuffs provided personal sanitary protection in the weightless environment of space. The urine was then transferred through a transfer tube (not attached to this object) to a tank, from which the liquid waste was vented into space.
Transferred from NASA - Johnson Space Center to the Museum in 1975.
