Summary
Bags like this were installed in the Skylab toilet to capture solid waste, which was then dried, stored, and returned to Earth for analysis of the astronauts' digestion and metabolism. The bags also could be used in case of nausea and vomiting. NASA transferred some excess personal hygiene supplies and a variety of other equipment to the Museum when the program ended. These items represent solutions to basic human needs for living in space.
