Description
This model depicts the Chicago & North Western Railway's Railway Post Office (RPO) car that was assigned to the first permanent route established by the Railway Mail Service (RMS). This operation commenced between Chicago, Illinois, and Clinton, Iowa, on August 28, 1862. It was established under the guidance of George B. Armstrong, the first RMS general superintendent.
