    Born London, England
Spotted while on tour in New York City by moviemaker Mack Sennett, English vaudevillian Charlie Chaplin was signed to appear in Sennett’s popular Keystone comedies in 1913. He quickly adopted the droopy trousers, derby hat, and cane-brandishing persona that made his “Little Tramp” a worldwide favorite in such classics as The Tramp (1915), City Lights (1931), and Modern Times (1936).
