Description
Landscape sketch showing a view of the Catskill Mountains at sunset, as viewed from or near the artist's property known as Olana. Wooded hills rendered in hues of green and purple overlap one another in the foreground and middle distance, while in the background, the northern range of the Catskill Escarpment is streaked with the sunset's orange rays. The clouds and atmosphere above are suffused in luminous golden light. The creamy gray ground is visible along the upper margin.
