    Summary

The Apollo 11 astronauts were connected to the spacecraft communications system while in their suits by means of cables. Each astronaut was provided a cable (shorter ones for the left and center seats nearest the communications unit on the left side of the spacecratf forward equipment bay, and a longer one for the right seat). In case of equipment difficulty a spare (long) cable was provided and stowed in a locker inside the Command Module. This flown spare Apollo 11 Communications Control Unit cable was transferred to the Smithsonian in 1970.
