    Object Details

    Description

    This silver-colored electronic calculator has black plastic keys and trim. In addition to ten digit keys and a decimal point key, it has three memory keys, four arithmetic function keys, a percentage key, a square root key, a change sign key, a clear key, a clear entry key, and a total key. The on/off switch is at the upper left corner of the keyboard. A mark above the keyboard reads: BOHSEI (/) LCD-700. Behind this is the eight-digit liquid crystal display.
    A mark stamped on the back of the calculator reads: MADE IN HONG KONG.
    Newspaper advertisements indicate that a printing desktop electronic calculator sold under the Bohsei name in 1977. A 1978 advertisement in the Santa Cruz Sentinal lists the LCD-700, indicating that its battery (not accessible) lasts ups to eight hundred hours. In 1981, advertisements describe a Bohsei wallet-sized calculator and a Bohsei credit card-sized calculator, which are different models.
