Description

Program and score card for a 1947 game between the New York Giants and the visiting Brooklyn Dodgers. The center score card has been filled out in pencil by a fan. Book contains information about the Giants and numerous advertisements.
The program's cover features an image of infielder Buddy Kerr, an Astoria native who played for the Giants from 1943-1949. At one time Kerr had the record for most errorless games, with 608. The club also featured future Hall of Fame first baseman Johnny Mize.
The '47 Giants came in fourth place with an 81-73 record. The team had been located in New York since 1883, playing their games at the new Polo Grounds in Washington Heights since 1888. The Giants won five World Series Championships in New York before relocating to San Francisco in 1958.
