BASALT HEAD; SAITE/ XXII-XXVI DYNASTY; 3/4 VIEW; NOSE BROKEN; HEADRESS; CHIN CHIPPED. PROVENIENCE UNDOCUMENTED. IDENTIFICATION PROVIDED BY HMSG.
Dark gray-green metamorphic schist fragment of a head with plain double wig which partly covers ears, but does not have customary divider between the wig's upper and lower portions. Shallow parting above middle of forehead. Natural eyebrows; upper eyelid rim outlined; eyballs with vertical ridge descending towards cheek; faint philtrum; corners of mouth not drilled. Youthful, idealizing face. Head split off in rear at right ear, nose missing, chin damaged, broken off at base of neck.
