    From card: "Originally numbered 168190. An open, sharp-ended, flat bottom, keeless canoe, with flaring sides; decked with birch bark at one end for a distance of 5 feet 3 inches; made by covering a light open framework with birch bark sewed together with root fibre, and the seams covered with pitch." See Collins Ms. p. 850.
    The accession number for this canoe is uncertain. It has been listed on its catalogue card as possibly part of Accession 26892, but it is also possible it may be part of accession 27937? This canoe is included on a shipping invoice dated June 23, 1947, filed in Accession 36096, recording the transfer of a number of boats from the Division of Engineering to the Division of Ethnology.
