Jimmy Carter won the presidency in 1976 as the Democratic nominee. This plastic bank features his familiar toothy smile and celebrates his background as a peanut farmer. Carter, governor of Georgia, defeated Republican President Gerald Ford who was running to retain the office he had assumed after the resignation of President Richard Nixon in 1974.
