Descriptive Entry

These records document research, exhibition planning, and collecting activities of the Division of Mechanical and Civil Engineering for the Hall of Civil Engineering and the Hall of Heavy Machinery in the National Museum of American History. Materials include the correspondence and memoranda of Robert M. Vogel, Assistant Curator, 1958-1960, Associate Curator, 1962-1966, and Curator 1967-1988; Robert P. Multhauf, Curator, 1955-1964; Eugene S. Ferguson, Curator 1958-1960; Edwin A. Battison, Associate Curator, 1958-1969, and Curator, 1970-1977; and Carlene E. Stephens, Museum Technician, 1974-1977, Museum Specialist, 1977-1983, and Curator, 1983- . Records also include exhibition photographs, working blueprints of mechanical instruments, and articles pertaining to the history of heavy machinery.
