Scope and Contents
Color/aquatint lithograph of Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, North Wales. Crossed River Dee near Llangollen. Designed by Thos Telford; Ellesmere Canal. Construction started 25 July 1795. Aquaduct length: 988 feet plus 10 feet, 6 inches of iron work at each end, 19 arches if 45 foot span. Canal trough 11 feet, 8 inches wide. Piers 10 feet wide by 21 feet deep at base; 7 feet by 12 feet at top. Piers 116 feet high. Additional dimensional information on print.
