Side A: Memphis Slim and Muddy Waters conversation, undated.
Memphis Slim, born John Len Chatman (September 3, 1915-February 24, 1988), was an American Blues pianist, singer, and composer, who worked with Robert Johnson in the South after meeting him in Marietta Arkansas. As part of the interview, he discusses Johnson's personality and his music. He also talks about other musicians including Chicago blues singer, guitarist, and harmonica player Howlin Wolf (June 10, 1910-January 10, 1976); blues guitarist, singer, songwriter, and bandleader Elmore James (January 27, 1918-May 24, 1963); and Kaiser Clifton, a professional gambler connected to the Memphis Jug Band.
American blues singer-songwriter and musician McKinley Morganfield (April 4, 1913-April 30, 1983) known professionally as Muddy Waters states that he never played with Robert Johnson.
