American History Museum

Object Details

Collection Collector

McCormick, Mack

Collection Citation

Robert "Mack" McCormick Collection, Archives Center, National Museum of American History, Smithsonian Institution

Scope and Contents

Dictation notes, 2006. McCormick's effort to dictate notes for the remaining chapters or scenes of the manuscript relating to Robert Johnson known as memoir or Who Killed Robert Johnson (WKRJ). McCormick states the idea is to dictate the text in short form, 2-3 paragraphs, with a combination of ideas and complete sentences, then into prose with more research. Dictation begins with file 148 Lunch at Alamo Plaza, a scene including Robert Johnson, Vincent Lieber, and Tony Garza. File 149 Wait All Day is described as Robert Johnson in a hotel recording studio on Tuesday November 24, 1936 with a need to do newspaper research on some of the events that occurred on that day. Notes are also included for 152 Thanksgiving Plus in Custody, 153 Police Station and Nickel, 154 Show for Salesmen, 155 Crossroads, Walking Blues, 156 Sales Meeting, 157A Music Publishing Assignment, 157B Copyright Law, 161 Birds of Death, and 180 Follow Up and Reward. McCormick encourages research by others and makes suggestions on how to accomplish this.
