Scope and Contents

Documents the life of the only son of Frank Sherman and Mary Elizabeth Sandford. John Joseph Sanford was born March 9, 1883. He graduated from Danville High School in 1901. Having no money for college he took a job at the Inside Inn Hotel on the grounds of the World's Fair in Saint Louis, Missouri. John married Delia Spinner in 1914 and had two daughters Joan and Mary Elizabeth. John was employed by the Bunker Hill Company of Kellogg, Idaho for fifty years. He served on the city council for eighteen years as city engineer, served as committee man for the Boy Scouts of America and as a member of the Masonic Order A. F. and A. M. Lodge. John Joseph Sanford died in March of 1963. The materials consist of correspondence dating from 1900-1926, high school memorabilia, postcards, an obituary and biographical information. The materials are arranged in chronological order.
