Biographical / Historical
William Tatem Tilden, Jr. (1893-1953) known as "Big Bill" Tilden was the winner of 7 United States Tennis Championships, 3 Wimbledon wins in addition to other victories. In 1920, he was the first American man to win at Wimbledon. He was inducted into the Tennis Hall of Fame in 1959. He died on June 5, 1953 in Hollywood, California and is buried in Ivy Hill Cemetery, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
