Scope and Contents
The letter press books consist of bound volumes of correspondence between Modjeski and other civil engineers and companies that supplied materials or services for his bridge projects. The books are arranged chronologically and then alphabetically by name of bridge. Many of the individual letters in the bound volumes contain cross references to related letters. This is indicated at the top of the letter using the page number. For example, a January 18, 1905 letter to Modern Steel Structural Company of Waukesha, Wisconsin (page 339 of the volume), contains a cross reference to a related letter on page 286 of the same volume.
