Scope and Contents

Consists of the largest amount of material in this series. Materials relate to actors and actresses who begin their careers in the silent film era with others experiencing long careers that continue well into the twentieth century. Some of these actors are also represented in the subseries relating to television while others are also considered singers. Included among these materials are many well-known individuals such as Elizabeth Taylor, Grace Kelly, Lana Turner, Marilyn Monroe, Vivien Leigh, Rita Hayworth, Jane Russell, June Allyson, Eve Arden, Gene Autry, Lucille Ball, Harriet Bennett, Ann Blythe, Kookie Byrnes, Cyd Charisse, Claudette Colbert, Tyrone Power, Bette Davis, Doris Day, Sandra Dee, Dale Evans, Connie Francis, Clark Gable, Greta Garbo, Ava Gardner, Judy Garland, Cary Grant, Rock Hudson, Betty Hutton, Hedy Lamarr, Kim Novak, Margaret O'Brien, Mary Pickford, Debbie Reynolds, Ginger Rogers, Roy Rogers, Jimmy Stewart, Shirley Temple, Gene Tierney, Rudolph Valentino, Natalie Wood, and Joanne Woodward. In addition, there is a collection of dolls representing black entertainers. Materials are arranged in alphabetical order by name then followed by collections.
