Scope and Contents
Congresswoman Frances Payne Bolton and another woman standing in a room in Bolton's house. Bolton is holding a piece of cloth and pointing to a piece of African sculpture on a mantelpiece whilst the second woman holds a notebook and pen. There is a painting of a desert scene above the fireplace and more African sculpture on the mantelpiece. There is a couch, a full bookcase and a window with drapes behind them. No ink on negative. Ink on envelope: caption, "c/o Mrs. Cassell" and "1 - 8 x glossy of each, 3 - 8x10 D.W.". "KODAK - SAFETY -- FILM" edge imprint.

Biographical / Historical
Frances Payne Bolton (March 29, 1885 - March 9, 1977) was a Republican politician from Ohio. She served in the United States House of Representatives from 1940 to 1969. She was the first woman elected to Congress from Ohio.
