Collection Citation
Puerto Rico Division of Community Education Poster Collection, 1940-1990, Archives Center, National Museum of American History.
Scope and Contents
One of many posters advertising social welfare programs, it aimed to reinforce proper nutrition and to promote a summer lunch program available to schoolchildren. Relying on a classic Puerto Rican convention, this poster depicts the Puerto Rican triad with three children of different skin colors sitting at a table. The same triad appears in the imagery of The Three Kings and in the seal of the Puerto Rican Culture. (From exhibition text by Marvette Perez.)
