Scope and Contents
Provides photographic documentation primarily of Fitzgerald's professional career as a jazz singer. These materials consist of black-and-white and color prints both formal and candid spanning most of her life. The series is divided into nine subseries. Subseries 2.1 is images of Fitzgerald performing alone; subseries 2.2 contains photographic prints of Fitzgerald performing with others; subseries 2.3 include images created for publicity purposes; subseries 2.4 is material documenting Fitzgerald's family, colleagues, and friends; subseries 2.5 contain candid photographs; subseries 2.6 document performing venues; subseries 2.7 are photographs from Fitzgerald's many friends and fans; subseries 2.8 consists of negatives, transparencies, and slides often duplicating the photographic prints; and subseries 2.9 are oversize images.
