Scope and Contents
Several documents asking relief by the legislatures of New York and Pennsylvania from grants of exclusive rights of steamboat navigation to Fulton and Livingston. Proposals for improving navigation above tide water on the Susquehanna and Delaware Rivers by a new system of locks invented by John Stevens. An act by the Pennsylvania Legislature authorizing construction of such locks. An agreement between three of Stevens' sons to establish the Union Line of steamboats to run from Philadelphia to Trenton and New Brunswick in New Jersey
