The bulk of this material is from the 1900s to the 1940s. These generally are songs about or covers depicting ocean ships or sailboats. Many songs use boats metaphorically for love and courtship (e.g. Just a Stowaway On a Ship of Dreams). There are several songs about pirates. A few military pieces are included, but the Armed Forces Series (2) should be consulted for naval history. (circa 240 items)
