Scope and Contents
The series primarily consists of inspection reports on LCNC mining properties for insurance purposes, 1949-1953. Also included is a letter/report, 1919, to S.D. Warriner, President of LCNC from his vice president upon his separation from the company, which enumerates progress during his seven-year tenure and lists work remaining to be done. This letter/report includes a comparative statement of money expended for "betterments," 1896-1918. There is a 1936 report by consultants, Stuart, James & Cooke, Inc., on the unprofitable operation of LCNC that focuses on ways to reduce losses and increase profits. A 1944 report, prepared for the coal company, describes the silt and culm levels in the Schuykill River. A seemingly unrelated report, 1912, by J;B. Warriner, later president of LCNC, describes the general shut down of Taylor Mines of the Denny-Renton Clay & coal company in Seattle, Washington. the series is arranged chronologically.
