Records of Coal Production

The series contains monthly financial statements of coal production, 1900-1906. For every colliery that is reporting, the monthly statement includes hours worked, tonnage amounts, cost per ton, cost-to-date, and cost on the same date of the previous year. Also included are monthly totals and screen building totals for all columns. Of special interest are production records recorded during a strike from May 12 through October 23, 1902. Also included are yearly statements of production and screen building statements. These statements and the monthly statements are listed in a small index in the front of the volume. A single, loose sheet found along with the screen building statements records the average mine car yield for 1901 for each colliery that is reporting.
