Biographical / Historical

Mr Heerwagen's letter states that on the back of the original postcard was written in longhand, "5/7/1912, Capt. Chas. L. Von Berg, EXchief Scout of the Western Army." On the back of another photograph was written, presumably by Von Berg, "Scout to Gen. Sibly [sic], Gen. Stamley [sic], Gen. Crook, Gen. Custer. 1903." Heerwagen states that Von Berg's scout name was Eagle Tail; he is attempting to locate further information.
