School house and teachers quarters on right. Stable, Blacksmith's lean-to, and carpenter shop on left, built by Bratley and schoolboys in 1895. Dakota 'Bad Lands' come within 25 ft. of carpenter's shop to the north.
"Looking toward the west side of Lower Cut Meat Creek Camp Day School. Part of the roof of the carpenter shop shows over our [Bratley's] house and cowshed. The Blacksmith shop, the boys and I [Bratley] built in 1895. 15 cords of oak firewood shows in front of and beyond the carpenter shop. The 'Badlands' come within 25 feet of the shop on the north. Notice the gate to the right of the house that leads to the dam and the irrigated garden, all of which the boys and I made." (cf.
