"A member of Crazy Horse Band of Indians and a leading war chief in the fight against General Crook and his expedition on June 17, 1876. "After desperate fighting, General Crook saw that he was outnumbered, fighting a dashing, daring bunch of young Indian warriors under the leadership of the noted Chief Crazy Horse, supported by such chiefs as Red Horse, Wild Horse, Timber Wolf, his cousin, and other young Indians of the Crazy Horse Band of Braves. Good Indian fighter that he was, rather than see his command destroyed by this fearless bunch under that ring-master of the old frontier Crazy Horse, General Crook made a rapid retreat to save his command, showing his excellent judgement and consideration for his soldiers." -- Notation on photograph in the Burdick Collection of Barry photographs.
