Scope and Contents

According to Glen Luidemon, following the Nez Perce War of 1877, the Nez Perce eventually were allowed to return to the Pacific Northwest. About half settled with their kinsmen on the Lapwi Reserve (Nez Perce reservation) in western Idaho, and the other half moved to the Nespelem reserve (Colville reservation) in northeast Washington. Chief Joseph and Peo Peo Tholekt settled with this latter group.
