Kimberley Miner With Trams, 1948. Photographic image of a man standing behind a tram used to haul the hard rock that is transported to the factory. This miner is wearing a woven hat. The following caption is found in Stuart's notes relating to this image: "Bins roll incessantly all day with their thousands of tons of 'blue ground' en route to the sorting and crushing plant. The ground goes through many sorting, crushing, washing processes before it finds its way to the vibrating tables coated with grease to which the diamonds will adhere while the balance of the material will pass on to the waste dump."
