Kimberley Diamond Digger Near His Shack, 1948. Photograph by Constance Stuart Larrabee, 1948.Photographic image of a male diamond digger kneeling in front of a turned over pail. There is a shack in the background made of galvanized tin where the digger lives. there are two other men standing beside the shack. This is located in "Nooitgedacht" which is twenty miles outside Kimberley. The digger recently sold a diamond to the De Beers Company in Kimberley. This diamond is the first he has found in many months.
This image was found among the Johhannesburg Black South African series and has been catalogued in that sequence. However, the images themselves were taken during the Kimberley Diamond Mines shoot and should be viewed in relation to this shoot.
There are no prints of this negative in the Constance Stuart Larrabee Collection. EEPA produced an 8x10 study print for reference purposes.
