Transkei Women Dancing, 1947. There are several women dancing and clapping. One woman has her arm raised. They are wearing large head wraps, jewelry, skirts, and long tops. This singing and dancing takes place after the Sunday morning beer drinking. Photograph by Constance Stuart Larrabee, 1947.
In 1947, Constance Staurt Larrabee visited the Transkei. She was there researching the housing problems in Southern Africa.
There are four 8x10 black and white fiber-based prints of this negative in the Constance Stuart Larrabee Collection. One of them is signed "Constance Stuart Larrabee" by the photographer. EEPA also produced an 8x10 study print for reference purposes.
