Three Transkei Girls, 1947. Three girls are standing side by side in front of a wall. Two of them have white clay around their eyes. This face decoration is usually obtained form the river or by scraping a soft white stone. They are all wearing cloths wrapped around their heads, beaded necklaces and arm rings. In 1947, Constance Staurt Larrabee visited the Transkei. She was there researching the housing problems in Southern Africa.
There are no prints of this negative in the Constance Stuart Larrabee Collection. EEPA produced an 8x10 study print and 6x6 contact print for reference purposes.
