Transkei Man Building Homestead, 1947. A man is on the structure of the roof adding bundles of grass to the roof. He is on the outside of the homestead and the photograph is taken from the inside of the homestead. Transkei homesteads are usually circular and built by interweaving rods and twigs and overlaying it with clay. Photograph by Constance Stuart Larrabee, 1947.
In 1947, Constance Staurt Larrabee visited the Transkei. She was there researching the housing problems in Southern Africa.
There are no prints of this negative in the Constance Stuart Larrabee Collection. EEPA produced an 8x10 study print and 6x6 contact print for reference purposes.
