Interior of Transkei Homestead, 1947. The photograph is of several bundles of braided grass placed up against a wall in a homestead in the process of being constructed. There are two chickens inside. Transkei homesteads are usually circular and built by interweaving rods and twigs and overlaying it with clay. Photograph by Constance Stuart Larrabee, 1947.
In 1947, Constance Staurt Larrabee visited the Transkei. She was there researching the housing problems in Southern Africa.
There are no prints of this negative in the Constance Stuart Larrabee Collection. EEPA produced an 8x10 study print and 6x6 contact print for reference purposes.
