Printed caption on verso reads "Egyptian Girl Laughing. As in all hot countries, the wells and springs are points of animation. The springs which bubble even among the crags of the desert, or the wells which men have bored deep down below the surface. These are the meeting places where smiling women gossip together or linger and chat with those wayfarers who rest by the well and whose weariness they are always willing to refresh. 'Ho, everyone that thirsteth, come ye to the waters.'"
