Printed caption on verso reads: "Saffi Market. Saffi is a town with a history of much bloodshed, and an aspect of much beauty. White houses rise upon red soil, and picturesque streets xentre in a picturesque market place, where fresh fruit and dry dates are sold, sweetmeats made, horses chaffered for, and wild-eyed Aissaweeyas pretend to fall on naked daggers in order to drag a few 'reals' out of the Moorish onlookers."
