Original hand-written message on recto, "Dear Poreau, as I had promised you I send you though a little late a few postcards. I am in Tamatave since my arrival. I was supposed to go to Tananarive but they grabbed me to stay as a secretary and now I am pulling all the stops in order to get away. I have had my fill with this place. We are about twenty Europeans in a native infantry regiment. No fun no theatre no thing but Montel for songs you hear Myrella the merry widow and that is it."
