Collection Citation

African Postcard collection, EEPA 1985-014, Eliot Elisofon Photographic Archives, National Museum of African Art, Smithsonian Institution.

Scope and Contents

Original caption reads, "Betsimisaraka - The Wrestlers." Postmarked and stamped on recto, "Tamatave, Madagascar, 19 May 1927."
Original hand-written address on verso, "Mr and Mme Le Blanc. 111 Bd de Champigny Près Vincennés Seine France."
Original hand-written text on recto, "20-5-27. My good and dear old friend, certainly received your letter of the 4/4. Thank you very much for your kind thoughts towards us. Yes believe well the separation is extremly haral for us and I do not see up to the present the means of diminishing it. What consoles me a little is the knowledge that the dear family are well looked after and cared for, how could it be otherwise with such good parents? Myself I am well physically speaking. Good bye and please accept from both of us my best regards."
