Postmark on verso. Manuscript message and address on verso, message reads: "Banana, 6-12-11. Chers amis, je vous envoie mes voeux de bonheur à l'occasion du nouvel an. Je me porte fort bien au Congo, je rentre en Europe dans 20 mois donc j'aurai encore le temps de me chauffer un peu. Votre ami dévoué. Capitaine de steamer." Translated message reads, "Banana, 6-12-11. Dear friends, I send you my wishes of happiness for the new year. I am in very good health in the Congo. I shall come back to Europe 20 months from now which gives me the time to keep warm. Your devoted friend."
