Translated postcard caption reads, "51. Belgian Congo - Leopard." Accompanying text on verso reads, "Bandundu, 6 Janvier 1918. Mon cher Haenen. Enfin je suis revenu mais on m'a envoyé dans le Kwango ce qui me dégoute profondément. Tu comprends que j'aurai voulu retourner à l'Equateur. Envoie moi ton adresse exacte et fais moi savoir combien je te dois, je ne retrouve plus la lettre. Pour le moment je suis plutot dans la dèche mais cela ira mieux le jour où je recevrai de tes nouvelles. Bien cordialement à toi. Viré..." Addressed to, "Monsieur Haenen. Kigoma. Afrique Orientale Allemande." and from, "Envoi de G. Viré à Gete (Kwango) par Thijsville." Accompanying translated text on verso reads, "Bandundu, January 6 1918.
