Printed caption on recto reads: "26. Matadi; Aspect du port à l'arrivée d'un vapeur." Translated postcard caption reads: "26. Matadi. View of the port on the arrival of a steamer."
Manuscript message and address on verso, message reads: "Matadi, Belgian Congo. Oct. 20, 1919. Howdy, this looks like some port, but it is just like all the rest of them. It is really the best one we have stayed at since Dakar."
Postcard likely part of series created by "J. I. P.," corner which could have borne the photographer/publisher's mark is missing.
