Translated postcard caption reads: "French Congo. Baran-Baki and one of his wives."
This picture was taken by Auguste Béchaud nearby Mobaye in the Oubangui River, between January or February 1910 during Barambakié's detention in Mobaye. Barambakié was a Vidri chief (Banda tribe) who revolted against the French in 1907. Barambakié's wife could be either Naé (a Tambago) or Ouapi (a Banda). Both of them accompanied Barambakié to Mobaye.
