Translated caption reads: "French Congo. 'Sangho' woman."
This picture was taken by Auguste Béchaud ca. 1909 in a Sango village nearby Mobaye in the Oubangui River. Two Sangho women wear typical scarifications on their abdomen, chest and arms. They both have hair garmented with beads called bayaka.
