Scope and Contents
"Soil was used for building in Egypt before the man-made mud bricks was developped. The very limited documentation on brick-making shows a way of working that seems to be identical to that of traditional brick-making of Ancient Egypt." [Vogel J., 1997: Encyclopedia of Precolonial Africa, Altamira Press]. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for American Institute of Architects, directing the Egyptian portion of the documentary on Ancient Egypt, March 1965 and September 1965.
