Scope and Contents
"Qurna is located in northern Egypt on West bank of Nile across from Luxor, on part of historic Thebes; includes Temple of Qurna built by Seti I in 1300 BC finished by Ramses II; starting point for road leading to Tombs of the Kings, Tombs of Queens & Monkeys nearby." [ The J.P.Getty Fund: Thesaurus of Geographical Names]. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for American Institute of Architects, directing the Egyptian portion of the documentary on Ancient Egypt, March 1965 and September 1965.
