Collection Photographer

Scope and Contents

"The new temple was a completely closed 35 x 59m wide and 12.5m high building with one front entrance and two side doors. The uniformity of the enormous wall surfaces was disrupted only by huge lion-headed water spouts, three along the side walls and two in the rear wall." [Arnold D., 1999: Temples of the Last Pharaohs. Oxford University Press]. This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for American Institute of Architects, directing the Egyptian portion of the documentary on Ancient Egypt, March 1965 and September 1965.
