Scope and Contents
"Five separate railway systems operate in Zaire. The longest, The Chemin de Fer Kinshasa-Dilolo-Lubumbashi (KDL), connects the mining area of southern Shaba Region (now Katanga) to the port of Ilebo on the Kasai River and ultimately to Kinshasa by the Kasai and Zaire River." This photograph was taken when Eliot Elisofon was on assignment for American Broadcasting Company and traveled to Africa from early December 1966 to early February 1967.
