Copy of letter to Frank Shakespeare, Director of USIA in Washington, from Robert O. Blake, US Ambassador to Mali, dated November 28, 1972 requesting assistance in contacting Eliot Elisofon to "remind him of his promise" to send a copy of "The Bend in the Niger" film to the Malian Ministry of Information. Blake states that future filming by Americans in Mali "could be jeopardized if Elisofon does not uphold his end of the bargain." He goes on to state that, "although no one at the Ministry mentioned Elisofon by name, it is probably he whom they have in mind when they maintain that such visitors seldom live up to their word and that they and not Mali receive all material benefits."
